  • Click the “Game install/update tab on the left
  • There you will find the “use different folder” option
  • Change it to the new location of your folder

Please do not skip any step above, so that you can launch the game and play it successfully. You can also delete the Overwatch folder in the old location to give your disk space.

Move Overwatch to Another Drive – Install a Third-Party Software

The previous strategy for moving overwatch might seem stressful or overwhelming because there are too many steps, a simpler option is using third-party software to move the game folder.

A popular tool is the EaseUs Todo PC Trans, like a lot of EaseUs tools, this one is reliable. This version of the software helps with moving files, software games, and other things on your PC seamlessly, it also has a “PC to PC” transfer option.

The first step in using this software is downloading it, this download is easy and available on their official site. After downloading it, then install it, before we go any further this software is not free, and it is software that requires an annual subscription so might not be the best option to go for if you just want to transfer a single game.

You can check out their website to see if your needs are compatible with its other feature to decide if it is worth the purchase.

Now, if you decide to get this tool, you can complete your move using these steps:

  • Launch the app
  • Choose the “App Migration Option” on the left tab
  • Choose the Overwatch game
  • Choose your desired location on the new drive
  • Then start

Move Overwatch to Another Drive- Reinstall Game

The first two options for moving your overwatch game are not the only options, a third one that might be considered the easiest by some is a simple uninstall and reinstall. To uninstall, search for the game, click to view properties, there you will see the uninstall option.

If for some reason, your Operating System (OS) does not have this option, you can go through the control panel:

  • Open the control panel
  • Click the Program and Features option
  • Find the Overwatch game and uninstall

Remember, before you install it on your new drive, delete all Overwatch-related folders that might still be in the old disk. After that install and launch.

Move Overwatch to Another Drive- Clone Disk

When you get a new disk, there is a high likelihood that you want to transfer all your files to the new disk including your OS, if you want to make a total transfer, cloning your disk is a fast method to achieve your goal. For this process, you need hardware that can serve as an external connector for your new drive.

If you purchase an SSD, one of the many advantages is that some have a free migration like Samsung or Western Digital but if you did not get those brands, there is a popular free tool that can clone your disk seamlessly.

The Macrium Reflect is a free tool that works for both HDD and SSD. Download the software, i.e., free home version, install it then follow these steps:

Step 1: Data Backup

Backing up data is essential as you do not want to risk an error erasing your data, to backup you can:

  • Use an Iso file and save it to a disk, USB Drive, or an external disk drive
  • Use a third-party software

Once you are done with that, you can begin the cloning process. Remember, you should get a drive that has more space than your current drive, this makes data transfer easier as it saves you the hassle of deciding which files to delete.

Step 2: Clone the disk

  • Launch the Macrium Reflect
  • There will be a list of drives, click the drive you want to clone
  • Select the “Clone this disk” option
  • Choose your new connected disk as your destination drive
  • If your new drive has a bigger storage than the old one, click the cloned partition properties
  • Expand the drive to fill the space
  • Start the process

It takes a while, so you can leave your PC plugged in and do other things till the process is done. Then put your new drive in your PC. If you do not know how to put a drive in a PC, please seek help from a person that handles computer hardware so you will not damage the disk.

Move Overwatch to Another Drive- PC Requirements

Improving your gaming experience is not just dependent on your drive type, switching to an SSD and ensuring your less than 80% of your disk’s capacity is in use, has a part to play in a better gaming experience but it is not an impact that can be noticed if your PC specifications does not meet the gaming requirement.

Every game has specific system requirements that will ensure a user maximizes their experience and for overwatch WePC lists the following requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Available disk space: 30GB minimum
  • Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Minimum
  • Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 minimum
  • Pixel Shader: 4.0
  • Vertex Shader: 4.0
  • Dedicated Video RAM: 768MB
  • GPU: NVIDID GeForce GTX 460 or ATI Radeon HD 4850 or Intel HD Graphics 4400
  • RAM: 4GB
  • CPU: Intel core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650

Recommended Requirements:

  • Available disk space: 30GB minimum
  • Operating System: Windows 7 64-bit Minimum
  • Screen Resolution: 1024 x 768 minimum
  • Pixel Shader: 5.0
  • Vertex Shader: 5.0
  • Dedicated Video RAM: 768MB
  • GPU: NVIDID GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7950 or higher
  • RAM: 6GB

HDD or SSD for a gaming drive upgrade?

You should get an SSD because this will improve your computer’s performance in terms of boot time, launch time and navigation. It also does not run as hot as the HDD and makes little to no noise.
